• Vanuit Maastricht gaan we langs de Maas richting het mooie Dinant. Het Maasdal wordt verder gevolgd tot in Charleville-Mézières waar het voor veel deelnemers de laatste goede mogelijkheid zal zijn om nog iets warms te eten op de eerste dag. Hierna gaat de route via Verdun naar Nancy door een gebied waar je glooiende heuvels tegenkomt vergelijkbaar met die in Parijs-Brest-Parijs. Verderop ligt Gondrexange op de route. Zorg dat je hier je bevoorrading bijvult, vooral het water, want hierna volg je lang een kanaal waar je niks tegenkomt.

  Na Saarbrücken en Mehring volgt het Moezeldal waar naast mooie uitzichten ook veel horeca is. Hierna Koblenz en vlak daarna zit er nog een aardig klimmetje het Rijndal uit. Dan nog één controle bij het 24 uurs benzinestation te Peppenhoven, waarna het 100km uitrijden is naar de finish in Maastricht.

  Verlichting en reflectievest (´s nachts verplicht in Frankrijk) zijn noodzakelijk. Bij dit brevet wordt geen ondersteuning geboden in de vorm van slaapgelegenheid of verzorging.

  From Maastricht we will follow the Maas to beautiful Dinant. We will continue through the Maas valley until Charleville-Mézières which will probably be the last good place to eat something warm on the first day for most riders. From here the route goes through Verdun to Nancy where the rolling hills are somewhat like the ones in Paris-Brest-Paris. Further along the route lies Gondrexange. A good place to stock up on supplies, especially water, because from here you will ride along a canal for a long time where there's not a lot to find.

  After Saarbrücken and Mehring we enter the Mosel valley with nice views and a lot of cafés and restaurants. In Koblenz, the Mosel and the Rhine meet. Soon after Koblenz we climb out of the Rhine valley. One more control left at the Peppenhoven 24 hour petrol station and from there the last 100 kilometre stretch back to the finish in Maastricht.

  You will need proper lights and a hi-vis vest (mandatory in France at night). This is an unsupported brevet. You are responsible for your own sleeping arrangements and supplies.
